My Top 5 Ways to Prep for Disney World with a Toddler

One of my all-time favorite bloggers is Shannon from BRB Going to Disney. She is amazing and shares so many tips and tricks for Disney World in general and has shared her experience with her toddlers. Our family is making the trip to Disney in a few short months and I am trying to think of all the things I need to do and how I can best prepare for our first trip out of Texas with our toddler and our trip to Disney World. So, let’s get started!

  1. My first tip to Disney World with a toddler is PREPARE! Get all that you need for your trip ready and have a plan ( insert shameless plug to getting a travel agent to help guide you in the journey!) Also, as you know with toddlers, you gotta be ready to be flexible. You may not be at the park the entire day OR you may have to take a short day. That’s why you should have a list of things that you MUST do. When you are making your plan, make sure to have all the must-do things ready to go. But you should have multiple ways to accomplish them! That way if Plan A doesn’t work then Plan B might etc! Try to take a deep breath and know that even if you don’t get everything done, you will have a wonderful time!

  2. My next tip is to factor in times for naps. Disney can be overwhelming in the best way, but making sure that you try to stay to your consistent schedule at home at the parks helps make the transition a little easier. If you get a hotel on Disney property, utilize the Skyliner for quick trips to and from the hotel can help for nap times! It gives you a moment or two to rest your feet as well. Going to my trusty friend Shannon, she shares some great nap spots for Magic Kingdom , if going to your hotel room doesn’t make sense for you and your family!

  3. Bring some items from home that are familiar! For example; the babe’s crib sheet, obviously favorite lovey, and sound machines. It is important to be flexible too if your babe just wants some comfort from you. I highly recommend this blog from my girl. She shares some tips for sharing a resort room with toddlers. Again, Shannon is the queen of Disney and toddlers!

  4. Is your babe a picky eater or has food allergies? Make sure you bring some of their favorite snacks. Or do a Shipt/Instant cart to your hotel! Trust me, that will be helpful if you don’t want to lug a bunch of snacks in your suitcase for the duration of the trip. Disney is truly wonderful about providing allergy-friendly menus! I am allergic to gluten and I always make sure that the dining reservations are accommodating to our family! Make sure that you are paying attention to that when you are booking dining reservations!

  5. Are you flying to Disney? Because I am and I am SO nervous about it lol. Our flight is only about 2 hours, but still, that is two hours that my little girl has never endured LOL. Here’s my plan for the flight: I plan on bringing a car seat! Just to help my little girl know that we are going somewhere. I planned my flight as close to the current nap time as possible. I am also going to bring some new toys and some of her favorite activities! We don’t do screen time quite yet, but I recommend bringing the tonie boxes with the headphones. OR books, Olive loves books. Take advantage of the carry-on and purse that the airlines allow you to bring so you can bring ample snacks diapers etc. Again, I will refer to the book of Shannon for more detailed tips on flying with a toddler.

So, when are you heading to Disney with your toddler/s? What are some other tips you can share for families making their first trip?! I will report back with a more in-depth blog about the parks and toddlers/ tips and tricks on that soon! In the meantime, we are making our daughter some Mickey Waffles to prepare her for the trip!
